Now I shall take
you to our new task or rather i would say new idea with the aim of helping out
poor people and protecting them in deadly cold winter when mercury is showing its
temperature in single digit. As we live in well protected and conserved atmosphere
we have technology at our finger tips and roof to protect us,we actually doesn't
know how deadly is a winter night with no roof as shelter and having a small
corner to sleep without enough wears to cover the body so this year we decided
to distribute clothes among the poor and needy people, but as we started
planning this we realized that this is not enough, so we decided to distribute
some “Dhablas”too in same manner as we did last year, but this time
it was on a bigger platform.
We started
planning for it nearly a month ago by collecting opinions of our members and
decided to go for cloth distribution among the poor and needy people, but it
was not at all an easy idea, however if it would have been easy we wouldn't have
taken it up, after a long discussion and
a lot of opinions from all the active members of KMM we finalized 13th
December, 2014 to go for cloth distribution, we also received support from
elders for this task and they also assured for all kind of help, so everything
was going in our way as always.
After collecting
opinions from members, elders, and every other relevant persons we came to
conclusion to target none other than the Great Gaganvihar Flats, which itself
is huge society to help us in every manner and so we started collecting clothes
from the residents of our society Gagan Vihar from 10thof December,
2014 and the kind of response we got was extra ordinary from the first day
itself, we were amazed to see how generous people residing in our society were
to help us out in every manner. Apart from this, they were even ready to give
financial help if necessary, we nearly collect clothes in 2 big and full
cartoons on the first day and due to this we were more excited for next day,
same way we continued for it on second and third day. Apart from this we also
purchased 200 “Dhablas” as per our plan, Maheshbhai helped us in every manner
for those dhablas.

process was over by then, but then after main task started as we decided to
divide the clothes into 4 categories: 1. Men, 2. Women, 3.Children & 4.
Others, it was certainly tough and tedious work to divide clothes from almost 8
big cartoons, but we have to do it and we did it with ease having a good
planning and co-ordination behind it.

Now the big
question was in everyone’s mind as to what to do next and where to distribute
this stuff as we did not took help of any NGO so we our self has to discover
those places where we can distribute it to a real poor and needy people. So then
we started roaming in many different areas to find out which place would be
proper and decided the route accordingly. Nehru bridge-Ashram road-Gujarat
college-Shardanagar-Dr. Jivraj Mehta hospital-NID.
Finally calendar
showed up 13th December, 2014, the date for which we were all eager
and waiting for the clock to show 9:30 p.m.

At 9.30 all the
members were ready we started loading the clothes and “Dhablas” in the tempos
and the journey begin, some were in the tempos and remaining were on the
vehicles, some of them came up with the best cameras to click every moment and
they did their job so well as you can see it from all the attached photos.

We started our
journey from Gaganvihar Flats and took a first pause at Nehru bridge and
distributed clothes as well as Dhablas to people sleeping on the footpath, they
were literally happy to have these things, another pause was at Ashram road
where around 50 families were sleeping without having nothing to cover their
body and there also so we distributed clothes there and received their
blessings and that was certainly an emotional moment for us.

Then we moved
ahead as decided and reached near Gujarat college where also 10-15 families
were there, then at Shardanagar where we witnessed around 70 families were
sleeping under the shelter of over-bridge,

As we had a lot
of Dhablas and clothes, we decided to extend our route to Lal Darvaja and
Astodia where we find a lot of people sleeping in corners and in carts and this
way we executed and successfully completed our plan of helping poor and needy
people in deadly winter.

Then we came
back to our society and scattered with a vote of thanks and a feeling of
spending time for a good work and remembering Swami Vivekanand’s lines:
